Punya Karma – Parjanya Shanti
October 28, 2023

Ram Ram!!

We can claim without an iota of doubt that to be born in this very holy land of Bharat itself is the result of punyas accrued in several past births and we must feel very proud about it. The sacred Bharat is also the land of karma, jnana and yoga and has always been replete with Satsang and great things including Gurus, Acharyas, Azhwars, Nayanmars, Bhagavadottamas (great devotees), Kshetras and Teerthas (temples and temple ponds), rivers, temple festivals, Vedas, Tevaram and Tiruvasagam, Puranas and Itihasas, Nama sankeerthanam and upanyasams (spiritual discourses).

Even the smallest good deed done in this holy land will amass a huge amount of punyam. But the sad reality is that not many are performing even their prescribed karmas, not even sandhya vandhanam and because of this, people are affected by the lack of water, the most basic and essential need for livelihood.

Due to lack of rains, there is no water in Kaveri (not even in the Mettur Dam) and to see the river in such a state is very painful. To alleviate this and as a prayer for rains as prescribed in our shastras, Ishta Poortha Kainkarya Charitable Trust, with blessings of the almighty and Acharyas, has decided to conduct a massive punya karma – Parjanya Shanti, which is the collection of mantras related to Varuna, contained in Shri Krishna Yajur Veda. We are pleased to share that this will be conducted with around 15 Veda Vidwans on 30th October, 2023 (starts around 6.00 AM) at Vijayeendra Swamigal Mutt, Solaiyappan Street, Kumbakonam.

We request you all to cooperate and participate in this to receive the blessings of the almighty. (It is to be noted that in this Parjanya Shanti, all the 15 Veda Vidwans will be standing in neck deep water for around 2.5 hours and chant the mantras). We would like to humbly remind that in such deeds conducted for the welfare of the world, each one of us has some responsibility.

Neerindri amaiyadhu ulagu (The world cannot function without water).

Ram Ram!!
