Maruthanallur / Thirukarukkudi Shiva Temple Revival
January 16, 2023

Maruthanallur (Thirukarukkudi) is a village  situated between Kumbakonam and Mannargudi. In this village there is a lord Shivan temple which is a swayambhu lingam (murthi) and known as AdvaithaNayaki sametha Sri Brahmapureeshwar.

This temple is recognized as distinguished in the songs composed by Sri Gnyanasambandar.

Sri Ramabiraan himself has performed poojai in this ancient temple. Further, the temple also houses the Sri Rama idol consecrated by Sri Sadguruswamigal, who is well known for the bhajanai culture paved and established by him. It is believed that Bhagawan Rama gave darshanam here. The same idol of Srirama is till date worshipped with great reverence, even now by the descendants of Sadguru Swamigal are performing daily pooja with the utmost sincerity and dedication. This great holy temple at present is in a bad condition with uneven path and weeds all around the praharam of lord shiva deity due to lack of maintenance.

Our Ishta Poortha Kainkarya Charitable Trust has planned to revive this ancient temple. It is by sheer good fortune that we will be able to take part in the kumbabishekam of this temple of so much importance.

It is humble request to all bhaktas to generously denote and be part of it.

With utmost love and divinity
